PLANSEE Powertech AG copper/chromium is a composite material with up to 50% Cr content. CuCr contacts with dimensions in the range 20 mm to 200 mm are used mainly for vacuum switching tubes up to 72.5 kV for medium voltage in electrical energy distribution.
Cu alloys (CuCrZr) are used mostly for permanent contacts. They have a higher mechanical strength than pure copper at elevated temperatures.
Advantages of CuCr Materials
- lower contact resistance together with reduced arcing wear
- higher hot strength
- low tendency to welding
CuCr Materials
- CuCr 25
- CuCr 43
- other alloys on request
These materials are supplied according to customer specifications. They can also be incorporated in ready to install assemblies manufactured by joining processes such as brazing (autogenous and induction brazing), welding (electron-beam, permaflash- and flash butt-welding) and mechanical joining, all of which are core competences of PLANSEE Powertech AG.
